The Sleep Foundation points to research that supports this relationship, showing that a lack of sleep can lead to increased appetite and diminished feelings of fullness. It can also lead to unhealthier food choices, with sleep-deprived individuals seeking out foods that are higher in calories and carbs.

Stress not only harms our mental health, it can have a huge impact on our physical health as well. High levels of stress can lead to overeating, unhealthy choices, and a reluctance to do physical exercise.

The benefit is knowing ahead that you'll be doing that so you're not scrounging when hunger sets in. And be sure to write down the plan — you're more likely to stick to it if it's in front of you as a reminder.
