I'm not vegan but I am trying to eat clean. I love all the ingredients in this recipe. I typically use almond milk in my smoothies to cut down on carbs because I'm diabetic. I also have a sweet tooth which is bad, I know! I also typically use greek yogurt for protein and to thicken the smoothies.

I never thought of using avocados! i love avocados in salads and on sushi though. My 15 y. daughter loves avocados too so when i mentioned using them in a smoothie, she was all for it.

The other 4 members of our family, not so much. However, once they tried it, they were pleasantly surprised! We all were! The only thing my husband didn't like was the chocolate protein powder I use because it's keto friendly with very little sugar in it.

So next time i told my daughter to use the unsweetened cocoa powder and add tad more honey to his. I really like the fact that these ingredients are items I normally would use of have used in the past so i know what they taste like and I've heard of them all!

Plus, it's versatile. I didn't take a photo to share because i drank it before i thought of doing so. However, to anyone out there questioning how this tastes, it's absolutely delicious!

It is thick even after adding extra almond milk to it, but I didn't mind that. I just used a spoon so it made me think i was eating a dessert. Win win! I will definitely be trying your other smmothie recipes! Hello Cara, Thank you for the thoughful and sweet response.

Perfect consistency and very filling! Thanks so much for the lovely review, Lina. We are so glad you enjoyed it! Next time, would you mind leaving a rating with your review? Thanks so much! This is delicious! This smoothie has seriously saved me. This recipe is perfect as is and I will continue to enjoy it after I recover.

Thank you so much! Thanks so much for sharing. Wishing you a speedy recovery! This was sooooo good. It took forever to get the peel off frozen. It was such a refreshing drink, I am making another tomorrow.

Thank you!! You mentioned frozen greens. What would be a good way to freeze greens for smoothies? Also, is there a nut butter substitute fof the avocadoes or do you have a different recommend? Thanks for the advise. Hi Donna, beet tops tend to have a stronger flavor, so just a heads up there.

For freezing greens, we wash, pat dry, chop, and place in a sealed bag in the freezer. The avocado makes it thick and creamy in a way nut butter might not. But cashew butter would be our top suggestion. Makes a wonderful, satiating breakfast. I toss in a tablespoon of Chia and about a tablespoon of ground flaxseeds.

Gives a nice texture and adds some healthiness to the mix. A slam dunk, and the light caffienation is good for waking up and for mitigating hunger.

I have a large bag of beet greens to find uses for so they worked great in the smoothie. A really lovely easy recipe for a good morning breakfast go-to! I also did not have any protein powder and through a little vanilla Carnation Instant Breakfast in it I know, not exactly the greatest choice.

I still turned out great. Very smooth and creamy. Will definitely make it again. Instead of protein powder, I added some PB2 Powder. I also added a tb of cacao and a squirt of lemon juice.

Perfect breakfast smoothie. Had frozen avocado and fresh banana, but otherwise followed the recipe. I use rice milk, and add a small steamed sweet potato instead of the greens. Absolutely delicious! Thanks so much for the lovely review and for sharing your modifications, Deb. We are so glad you enjoy it!

I made it with just half an avocado and just half a banana, so the avocado would come through more predominately. Creamy and delicious! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. I do smoothies all the time but this recipe was a first for me and it turned out great! It was so creamy and I love the color.

Ooh so delicious. Instead of mixed green I used spinach and added a pinch of flaxseed. Thanks again for sharing. Quick to put together, so nutritious and super yummy!!

This smootie was actually really yummy! I used sweet almond vanilla milk instead of plain, spinach as my greens and added a tablespoon of peanutbutter! I almost drank both servings! Im fairly new to smoothies but this one is very good.

I put TWO stalks of kale in and it was too bitter — my fault. I put x3 shakes of Stevia in to try and alleviate the bitterness, but it was very KALEY!!!!

Lesson learnt. Would it be ok to use frozen avocado when a recipe calls for it? I just found out that Costco carries bags of frozen avocado which would be immensely cheaper and would insure I always had ripe avocado. But would it blend and be creamy the same? Great recipe!

I added Collagen peptides instead of protein powder and about a quarter cup or 4 pieces of frozen pineapple for sweetness and to brighten it up a bit, turned out delicious!

Great post work out snack! So good! I added some strawberries and used Complement protein powder almond, chia seeds, hemp seeds, pumpkin seed, watermelon seed, yellow pea. Delicious and a super way to start the day. Thank you! I like this smoothie but next time I shall freeze the banana and i also added a bit of maple syrup for sweetness cuz the Kale was super bitter for some reason.

Hi Amrit, Thanks for sharing your experience! Sometimes the harvesting time and variety of kale can make it more bitter. The maple syrup should help or you could try another variety of kale?

Or sub baby spinach! I always make at least two large ones, so doubled most of the ingredients…oh, and also added the Peanut butter…great addition! I substituted kale for the spinach, but will try spinach the next time…oh yes.. there WILL be a next time!!

It was creamy, thick and yummy!!! Definitely 5 stars!! I replaced the vanilla powder and almond milk by using the silk almond vanilla flavored milk and it was amazing. Also added strawberries! Hello can you send me some more avacado smoothie recipes please, an some beets smoothies an drink recipe please thank you.

What can you use in place of the protein powder that would take the place of it. Can you any other fruit or vegetable that can take the place of the protein powder? Hi Annette, though not quite as much protein as a protein powder, you could try using kale and hemp seeds for protein!

Hope that helps! In place of protein powder, try mashing soft tofu into small ice cube trays or mash and freeze flat so you can break of chunks This gives you protein, fiber and smooth texture.

Works in all smoothies. Use plant based protein powder! They have a Vegan one in Costco called, Vega plant based protein smoothie.

Think I could make a bunch and freeze them? I did that this week a smoothie of yogurt, banana, yogurt and some chia. Would it freeze OK if it had avocados?

This has always been my go-to recipe that I thought I had come up with myself! LOL… I love it. I do add cinnamon to it, which adds a nice flavor.

The frozen banana avocado frozen pine apple with spinach and almonds milk is good for wait loss??? I used fresh spinach, oat milk, a handful of frozen blueberries, flax, Maca and some old coconut protein powder that I had, you guessed it, lurking in the back of a cupboard.

Thanks :. Being new to smoothie making, I was a bit weary of mixing avo and banana, but it tasted fantastic. Added a dash of cinnamon powder too! Thank you for this mouthwatering recipe! Love this! Instead of milk and protein powder, I put in a protein shake vanilla premier protein shake. I used frozen kale, avocado and banana with it…. loved it! Thank you so much for sharing!

Was intimidated to use avocado in a smoothie! I used half an avocado, and the result was VERY thick. I was very glad. No longer as scared to use avocado in my blender! My first banana avocado smoothie. I used a whole avocado so I had to add a little extra unsweetened almond milk.

I added 1 tbsp each of chia and hemp seeds. Very creamy! This one also taste great without adding any form of sugar. Thanks for the great recipes! Holy smokes, this was incredible — I had no idea it would be so delicious. I made mine with Orgain Slim Vanilla Protein Powder and homemade coconut-cashew nut milk…it turned out so creamy and beautiful.

A little too thick for a straw, so I poured it into a bowl, sprinkled it with hemp hearts and ate it with a spoon. Home run!!! Adding this to my weekly repertoire. THANK YOU DIANA — I just used to have my half avo everymorning which helps for belly fat.

i am trying the avo with banana and greek yogurt as my smoothie this morning. I used cottage cheese instead of protein powder and I was amazed with the taste after. Any suggestions? Cause I got a run of this stuff to use up. Hi Sonia! You might find our Vegan Protein Powder Review helpful in picking a new brand :D.

I tried it for breakfast this morning using spinach and it was deliciously smooth. I am looking forward to adding a little cinnamon the next time for a little kick but I loved it! This was a bomb smoothie!! full of flavor and definitely filled me up as a breakfast replacement… I decided to substitute the protein powder for a Oikos protein banana flavored yogurt and added some water instead of milk to cut the dairy since I already added the yogurt, thinking maybe a little bit of honey would have been good too.

SOOOO Yummmy, definitely making another one soon! I have heard that you can add bone broth to smoothies for extra nutrients. Have you tried this?

What is the amount you would recommend? Love your recipes! Thanks for sharing them :. This is so delicious! Just tried it for a bit of variety, and this is definitely a new favorite! I would truly appreciate a response! Thanks for your help.

They are incredibly expensive in my country, and I simply do not have access to it. Hi Gabriel! Perhaps substitute the avocado for another banana as an option?

Hi Dana! Your recipes are wonderful and I love your site as well! Thank you for doing what you do! Hi Allegra! Blend the smoothie ingredients in steps to ensure each ingredient is blended completely before adding the next ingredient. Add the liquid to the blender first, then the fruits or vegetables one at a time.

Add ice or frozen fruit to the blender last. I have found that freezing your greens helps lots when putting them in smoothies. I freeze kale. It gets crunchy when frozen and blends smoothly. I add it to almost all my smoothies. I had never added avocado to my smoothies and it sure does make it smooth and very thick.

Great flavor even with plain, unsweetened protein powder. This is an amazing smoothie recipe! Turned out super creamy and delicious!

This smoothie looks so delicious! I tried out this smoothie yesterday with the addition of hemp, frozen berries, and maca — absolutely delicious! I loved how creaminess of the smoothie!
